Account Sync & Platform Review Terms
Version 2026-11-v1. When you create a sync account in the app, you read and tick to accept these terms. If the Chinese and English versions differ, the Chinese version prevails.
The terms
- After you create an account and turn on "upload & sync", the transcripts, notes and AI notes you choose to upload (and audio, if you enable it separately) are stored encrypted on the Mefor sync service and synced across your devices.
- To meet legal obligations, handle complaints and keep the service safe, the platform may lawfully access and review that uploaded content, through automated content screening, human review, quality sampling, and retrieval under legal process. Every access records who, when and why.
- With upload off, data stays on your devices only — nothing syncs and the platform can't see it. You can turn upload off, export or delete data, and delete your account at any time.
- Sync without sign-up is end-to-end encrypted; the platform cannot see its content and these terms don't apply to it.
How these commitments are enforced
| Commitment | How |
|---|---|
| No consent, no account | Sign-up must include the terms version you accepted, otherwise the server refuses it |
| No upload, no sync | With upload off, the server rejects every upload from the account |
| Platform can review | Your sync key is additionally encrypted to the platform review public key; the app pins that key's fingerprint so the server can't swap it |
| Every access logged | Access requires a stated reason and is recorded; exports need two compliance approvals and can be downloaded once |
| Sync without sign-up unaffected | No escrowed key exists for it, so the platform cannot decrypt it |
| You can withdraw | In My Account: turn upload off or delete the account (optionally with its cloud data) at any time |
